Organic Gardening

There are gardening workshops every second and last Sunday of the month from 1030am-3pm.  These workshops demonstrate ecologically sound methods for growing food, raw materials, and native habitat.

Currently in the front garden are native and drought tolerant plants such as California buckeye, sticky monkey flower, ceanothus, mock orange, yarrow, native currants, cow parsnip, native grasses, manzanita, bulrushes, cattails.

And in the backyard,we are growing fruit trees such as espalier apple, asian pear, cherry, plum, avocado, almond, loquat, pear, nectarine, orange, prune, apricot, strawberry guava and other trees such as Paulownia-Sapphire dragon, Coastal live oak, Ginko biloba, California buckeye and perennials such as several varieties of berries, grapes, chayote, strawberries, sun chokes and mushrooms such as Oyster, Turkey tails, Shiitake, and several wild varieties.

We are trying to complete the California code graywater system, aquaculture pond, drip irrigation system, rainwater catchment system. We also need help pulling weeds, finalizing the planting scheme, planning the interpretive signage and finishing the wheelchair accessible paths.
